What a disorienting moment it is in education. How are you doing? Staying connected is of utmost importance right now, and we’re offering a space for us to be present with each other amidst the unknowns. Please join us this Monday, April 21, for “Holding space for fears, feeling into potential” a community gathering event. We’ll meet in Zoom 8:00-9:00pm ET/6:00-7:00pm MT/5:00-6:00pm PDT. Register here.
It’s been a while and we have so much to share with you…
For Angela Carolina and for me, life has been life-ing (as Angela would say). The big transitions that we each initiated at the end of last year are in fullness. Angela will arrive home to the desert in New Mexico this week. She’ll probably share more about that in our next blog. And I’ve had some practice as a new parent, specifically a foster parent, and have settled into this new role. These transitions have deepened our commitment to teaching about and practicing transitions as healing spaces! If you didn’t get to see the Embodied Transitions offering from last season you can watch it here.
Our 2025 retreat was fruitful and we have clarity on season 3 of Sacred and as well as emerging clarification for our long term Engage goals. We’ll be ready to share our mission statement soon! I love my teacher, Patty Townsend’s definition of clarity. As a guest on The Body Awake podcast she said, “…what I found experientially, through a lot of inner – go in, go in, go in, see what’s there – clarify, don’t purify. Clarify means to see what’s actually there, not to get rid of something but to witness it with direct perception.” This year we’re focused on letting things exist and emerge – monsters and otherwise. Looking away is not an option. Our goal is to embody this in all of our upcoming work. Here’s what we’ll be up to this spring and summer…
April:
A Collaborative Emotion Processing (CEP) update is that the CEP Deck is now available for purchase from Engage: feel.think.connect. on our website! And the book is now available around the world in multiple languages!
May:
Sacred season 3 launches with our opening guest, Dr. Yolanda Sealey-Ruiz. She is a sacred teacher of ours and of many. This foundational episode is full of love, wisdom and groundedness and we can’t wait to share it with you!
June:
Lauren will be facilitating a Tiny Humans, Big Emotions book club for teachers which meets June 9, 23, and 30 in Zoom, 4:00-5:00pm. It’s free! All you need to provide for yourself is the book and a means of journaling/drawing during each session. Find out more and register here.
July:
As always we’ll log off for the month of July to rest our work at the computer and immerse ourselves in dear ones and gardening.
August:
So far, Engage has been offering compensated workshops and consulting as centers and event planners hire us to do so. We’re excited and proud to announce that we’ll be offering a half day Healing Centered Leadership Intensive for program administrators, ECE and EDU faculty, pedagogical leaders, and teacher coaches and mentors. The intensive will be co-facilitated by Angela Carolina and Lauren in Zoom on Wednesday, August 6, 12:30-4:30pm ET/10:30am-2:30pm MT/9:30am-12:30pm PDT. Stay tuned for details and application!
We hope you’ll be able to join us for some of these offerings!
With love and gratitude,
Lauren
